Local wildlife
The Zona Cafetera is home to some 520 different species of birds including some 30 varieties of humming birds.
Most of these photos were taken in the Acaime Nature Reserve but it is easy to see a large variety of birds from a hammock in the garden of Plantation House !
The Quindio tourist authority have several recommended bird watching routes around the area. In addition to the bird life there is a rich variety of other wildlife to be observed although frequently it is a little harder to spot.
