Playing tejo

Tejo is an extremely popular sport in rural Colombia. The object of the game is to throw a small metal weight underarm towards a packing crate filled with potters clay. In the centre of the packing crate and imbedded in the potters clay is a metal ring about 8 inches in diameter.

The idea is to get your weight to stick in the clay as close to the metal ring as is possible in which case the person closest scores one point. It is possible to get the weight to stick inside the ring in which case the person scores six points.

Just to give the game a little "extra" there are paper triangles filled with gunpowder placed at the top and bottom. If you get the gun powder to go bang you score three points. And finally if the gun powder explodes and your weight sticks in the ring you get nine points.

You don`t pay for the court you simply pay for drinks to stay on the court.
